Changes in Official Fees in Kazakhstan

The National Institute of Intellectual Property (Kazpatent) has introduced amendments to the official fees related to trademark registration and renewals.

The Patent Office abrogated the 15% discount for the filing and examination of trademark/collective trademark applications submitted in an electronic format. For foreign applicants, this adjustment does not include any real surcharge since the change is in line with the recent fluctuations in currency exchange rate.

However, the change to the trademark renewal fee (for the first three classes of the Nice Classification) is considerably more important: 97,144.32 KZT instead of 27,200.32 KZT, which constitutes an increase of 257%. The fee for each additional class has increased by 22%.

The new rates are introduced beginning on the first working day of 2021.
