Selection achievement registration
Plant varieties and animal breeds can be protected in Russia as selection achievements. They are registered by the State Commission of the Russian Federation for Testing and Protecting Selection Achievements. The term of the patent’s validity is calculated from the date of the selection achievement’s registration in the State register and totals 30 years (35 years for varieties of ornamental, fruit, and forest plants and grape varieties).
