Sojuzpatent’s Senior Associate Maria Kuptsova took part in the seminar “Life Science IP Seminar” held on June 24-26th in Munich, Germany. The seminar was attended by about 100 representatives from different companies, such as Ajinomoto Genetika Research Institute (AGRI), Astellas, Bayer, Boehringer Ingelheim, CSL Behring, Gedeon Richter, KG, Lundbeck, Novo Nordisk, Takeda, Zealand Pharma и Zentiva.
The seminar focused on current intellectual property topics relevant to life science inventions. Lectures were held by Hoffmann Eitle attorneys with expertise in protection of life science inventions as well as by external experts including Dr. Klaus-Peter Dopfer, former EPO Deputy Director in the field of biotechnology (in 2003-2006) and Director in biotechnology (Immunology/Diagnostics) (since 2014).
The seminar dealt with new case law regarding the grant requirements for life science patents, the consequences of the new Rules of Procedure at the Boards of Appeal, new CJEU decisions and referrals regarding the grant of supplementary protection certificates in Europe, the patentability of antibodies, and the latest IP developments in Europe.
The seminar was organized by Hoffmann Eitle.
