Our client Lenovo (Beijing) Limited preserves legal protection of two trademark registrations in Russia. A non-use cancellation action against the marks was filed by a Hong Kong company which aimed to register a confusingly similar trademark.
The claimant asked to terminate the marks with regard to a broad list of goods and services including electronic devices and software in class 9 NCL. This company can be considered a “serial” litigator as it previously challenged the trademarks of other international brand owners.
Case No. SIP-1088/2023 was considered by the IP Court and Sojuzpatent lawyers represented the client.
The opposing party, however, decided they will not pursue their initial demands. In the hearing on June 18th they confirmed their motion to drop the claim in full and the court closed the proceedings.
