Court Defends Hasbro’s Rights to MONOPOLY TM

Sojuzpatent, as a representative of Hasbro, Inc., was informed by the Far East Customs about allegedly counterfeit goods labeled with the MONOPOLY trademarks being imported into Russia. Sojuzpatent lawyers submitted relevant evidence confirming the infringement of Hasbro’s trademark rights to the customs officials. The Customs filed a lawsuit with the Primorye Region Arbitration Court. After considering the case, the court agreed with the claimant’s position. The importer was held liable under Article 14.10, Part 1 of the Russian Code for Administrative Offense and fined 50 000 rubles.
