Russian President Declares Week Off

26 March 2020

By presidential decree on March 25, 2020, the week starting March 30 is declared a week off.

The Russian Patent and Trademark Office (Rospatent) will not be fully operational. Initially, it was declared that deadlines would be automatically extended to the next working day; however, there is no official confirmation as to now. Applicants' documents will be accepted through electronic channels in the usual manner.

The Eurasian Patent Office plans to be partly operational in the remote mode, and deadlines will also be extended to the next working day.

Important infrastructure, including the Russian banking system, will be operational (with some limitations), and settlements will be available in all major currencies.

As indicated earlier, both patent offices have limited physical access to their premises and restricted the channels for receiving paper documents. Applicants are encouraged to file documents electronically via the patent offices’ customized portals and other secure systems.

Hearings in Russian courts are suspended until at least April 10, 2020. Hearings at Rospatent’s Chamber for Patent Disputes will be held remotely as teleconferences until May 8, 2020.

Sojuzpatent’s offices remain ready to assist our clients. Most operations during the week off will be conducted remotely through secure communication channels.

We will alert our clients to further changes via announcements on this website.
