The Russian president has signed into law the bill on the accession of the Russian Federation to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications.
The Geneva Act provides to owners of geographical indications and appellations of origin the possibility of obtaining protection in several countries by filing one application in one language.
Rospatent, the Russian intellectual property authority, will be examining applications filed in accordance with the Geneva Act provisions.
The law comes into force within one year of the date of its official publication – on December 31, 2022.
