Ministry of Industry and Trade Supposed to Legalize Parallel Imports for Certain Goods

On March 30, 2022, the government vested the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation with the authority to approve the list of goods for which the principle of international exhaustion of patent rights and trademark rights will apply (Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 506 adopted in accordance with the Federal Law No. 46-FZ of March 8, 2022).

The list of goods at the time of this publication is not approved. At the same time, the official website of the Government of the Russian Federation explains that the document was adopted to facilitate the import of original foreign-made products, imported in insufficient quantities, in order to meet customers’ demand and stabilize prices. In relation to such goods, all necessary customs and control procedures will be carried out.
