February 7, 2007 the Federal Arbitration Court for the Moscow Federal District (Cassation court) ruled in favor of the client of Sojuzpatent (the most known German sport car’s manufacturer) in the trademark infringement case. The Federal Arbitration Court
overruled the previous negative decisions of the Moscow City Arbitration Court and the Appeal Arbitration Court for Ninth Circuit as rendered “with substantial violation of the Russian trademark law”.
February 13, 2007 in “Hyatt Ararat” hotel (Moscow) trademark attorneys of Sojuzpatent were invited as the main panelists in the press-conference organized by Interbrand Group (Omnicom Group) concerning the successful trademark dispute resolution against
the Russian firm “Interbrand RUSCONSULTING” previously squatter the registration for trademark “Interbrand” in Russia.
January 16, 2007 the Moscow Arbitration Court ruled in favor of FERM B.V. (Netherlands) to prohibit the illegal use of the registered trademark “FERM” (international registration 464388) in domain www.ferm.ru by the Russian defendant. The Court decision
is a ground for compulsory transfer of rights for domain www.ferm.ru to FERM B.V. The trademark owner FERM B.V. was represented by the lawyers of Sojuzpatent.
December 7, 2006 the Chamber for Patent Disputes confirmed the validity of protection for the geographic designation “VOLOGODSKOE MASLO” (BUTTER FROM VOLOGDA REGION-NORTHERN RUSSIA) in the opposition case (Sojuzpatent represented the designation owner).
“VOLOGODSKOE MASLO” is one of the most known Russian brands among the food products. The fame of the designation “VOLOGODSKOE MASLO” was created by the excellence of manufacturing and special climatic conditions of the VOLOGDA region.
December 4, 2006 the Decision of the Chamber for Patent Disputes of the Russian Patent and Trademark Office entered into legal force. The Decision ruled in favor of the clients of Sojuzpatent – Swiss firm “Interbrand Zintsmeyer and Lux AG” and British
firm “Interbrand UK Ltd” (members of the Interbrand Group belonging to Omnicom and specializing in brand evaluation and promotion services) in the opposition procedure against the Russian firm “ZAO Interbrand Rusconsulting” who previously squattered the trademark
“Interbrand” in Russia.
December 19, 2006 the Chamber for Patent Disputes overruled the previous rejection decision of the Substantive examination of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property on one of Sojuzpatent client’s invention patent applications. Patent to be issued
based on that decision relates to surgical operating equipment.
December 21, 2006 Sojuzpatent organized an educational seminar for lawyers in the City of Kirov (Central Russia). The main topic discussed was the enforcement procedure for different types of IP rights in the Russian Courts of General Jurisdiction and
the Arbitration Courts.
November 13, 2006 the Decision of the Chamber for the Patent Disputes of the Russia Patent and Trademark Office came into force. This Decision satisfied the Opposition filed by Sojuzpatent on the previous Rejecting decision of the Examination which rejected
the trademark application “INNOVATION” of the Sojuzpatent client – JSC “Donskoy Tobacco” (Southern Russia). The trademark is allowed for the registration for tobacco products (class 34).
November 6-10, 2006 Sojuzpatent organized series of seminars on the topic “IP protection in Russia” for Chinese Law firms in Beijing and Shanghai. November 22, 2006 Sojuzpatent was visited by a delegation of the Japanese Intellectual Property Association
which unites the representative of the leading Japanese technology companies. The meeting was aimed to the discussion of the recent trends and important topic of the IP protection in Russia.
October 14, 2006 the Chamber for Patent Disputes satisfied the opposition filed by Sojuzpatent on the previous Rejecting decision of the Examination which rejected the trademark application “Rostovskoe Zolotoe” of the Sojuzpatent client – Rostovskii Plant
of Wines (Southern Russia). The trademark is allowed for the registration for sparkling wines.
October 19, 2006 the Moscow City Arbitration Court ruled in favor of the client of Sojuzpatent “Detergent Plant Ltd” declaring non-valid the previous decision of the Chamber for Patent Disputes which invalidated the client’s trademark registration “Labomid”.
The Court provides the order to the Russian Patent and Trademark Office for the reinstatement of the trademark “Labomid” in the Russian state register of the trademarks.
October 19, 2006 Sojuzpatent co-organized round-table hearings in the City of Saratov (Central Russia) on the topic of successful fighting against the counterfeited good’s distribution in the regional centers of Russia and the Eurasian countries.

October 20, 2006 Sojuzpatent co-sponsored the celebration of the 35-anniversary of the Russian State Institute of Intellectual Property (which was graduated by the most part of the Sojuzpatent team members).
On September 17, 2006, the Chamber for Patent Disputes's decision over the trademark registration MACY’S came into force. The Decision sustained the opposition filed by Sojuzpatent on behalf of the MACY’S trademark owner – the US firm Macy’s Department
On September 20, 2006, the Chamber for Patent Disputes of the Russian Patent and Trademark Office ruled in favor of Sojuzpatent clients – Swiss firm “Interbrand Zintsmeyer and Lux AG” and British firm “Interbrand UK Ltd” in an opposition procedure against

September 7-8, 2006 the 10-th International Conference “The Eurasian patent system” co-sponsored by Sojuzpatent took place in Moscow. Sojuzpatent presented the topic “Patents as a competition weapon in Russia – current situation” prepared by Svetlana Felitsyna,
Sojuzpatent Managing Partner.
September 16 2006 the central Russian TV channel “Rossia” presented a program on the situation with the abuse of patent rights in Russia. The patent attorneys of Sojuzpatent were main guest of the program providing their expert opinion.
August 5, 2006 the Chamber for Patent Disputes of the Russian Patent and Trademark Office forwarded its decision in favor of the client of SOJUZPATENT - Kraft Foods Inc. (USA) canceling the trademark registration # 556016 “Dr.Kraft” registered in the name
of competing company.
On July 23, 2006, the Decision of the Chamber for Patent Disputes in favor of the client of Sojuzpatent on the international registration 756721 for the trademark “PRAKTIKER” entered into the legal force. The Decision of the Chamber for Patent Disputes
overruled previous negative decision of the examination issued by the Federal Institute for Industrial Property.
